| FAME is a database that contains information for companies in the UK and Ireland. FAME contains information on 3.4 million companies, 2.8 million of which are in a detailed format. |

For the top 2.8 million companies the reports typically include: contact information including phone, e-mail and web addresses plus main and other trading addresses, activity details, 29 profit and loss account and 63 balance sheet items, cash flow and ratios, credit score and rating, security and price information (listed companies only), names of bankers, auditors, previous auditors and advisors, details of holdings and subsidiaries (including foreign holdings and subsidiaries), names of current and previous directors with home addresses and shareholder indicator, heads of department, shareholders, news plus access to the scanned image of the latest annual returns and reports. In addition to the existing ratios you can also create your own that you can display in the reports and also use in your searches and analyses.
Each company with detailed financials is part of a default peer group based on its activity codes; integral graphs illustrate its position in this peer group. A company tree diagram instantly illustrates the structure of the group.
The software lets you search for companies that comply with your own criteria. You can combine as many conditions as you like and you can use full Boolean logic (and, or, not). When you have identified a group of companies you can compare them against each other and create both graphs and tables. You can also analyse the results of your search in a simple matrix plotting the companies by the criteria of your choice. For example, you can view a group of companies by region and activity and plot the results graphically. Information can be downloaded into most packages.
Further features include: an Addin function that facilitates the analysis of "live" data from FAME within Excel/Access and BvDEP’s matching software, which allows you to compare your own database records with those that also occur in FAME and update or enhance your data accordingly. FAME is available to academic institutions with ATHENs authentication and can be purchased through a CHEST agreement.
As the software on FAME is so flexible you can use it for many different research projects including: detailed financial analysis and credit risk assessment, corporate finance, venture capital and M&A research, research and business development in accountancy firms, sales and marketing including pre-appointment preparation, feasibility assessment and generating data for campaigns plus academic study and teaching. It is also used in many local and central government departments.
FAME is available on DVD-ROM, as an intranet feed or on the internet with daily updates.
