| BvDEP has extensive experience of creating directories that contain vast amounts of data. Examples include a variety of electronic directories, both white and yellow page phone directories and online/CD-ROM versions of other hard copy directories such as the Leadership Directories in the United States. Rather than just creating an electronic version of a hard copy telephone directory, BvDEP incorporates state-of-the-art features. |

| BvDEP has developed a highly effective, scalable, relevant XML search engine, called BlitzHit. BlitzHit indexing and ranking agents use a large set of methods to mark relevancy for every word in every context, using word frequency, word location, contextual data derived from the XML tagging or web spidering, and a set of other variables that have been determined through fine tuning to contribute to overall relevancy. It can be used to index local repositories as well as external sources. |

| BlitzHit features customised contextual searches, such as name search, location search, keyword search or web search through sophisticated search syntax with Boolean, context and proximity operators. BlitzHit dynamically builds structured views on the result set, based on predefined categorisation of the entries. This concept allows interactive drilling down into any data set without preliminary knowledge of the data structure. It also features a spell checker and the ability to integrate a thesaurus for synonym search or inflected forms. It also provides an XML client API with which search partners can integrate. Mapping and routing facilities illustrate search results on maps, which the users can zoom in and out of, for more or less detail, and illustrate the quickest available route. Some of the directories include vertical specialisations such as specific sites for shopping and restaurants. These vertical sites simplify navigation and also offer commercial opportunities such as e-payment and vertical advertising sales. |

| BvDEP has also helped its customers exploit progressive business opportunities with operator assisted yellow pages and location based services for mobile use. Use of these services from a mobile gives a result based on the user's current location and returns the retail outlet(s) closest to them. |

| In addition to creating and hosting the directory BvDEP also provides full back-end and administrative support. A usage "statistics dashboard" gives live data on the latest searches, numbers of hits plus more detailed statistics such as the most commonly used search criteria and comparisons between specific dates. Marketing statistics are also easy to interpret with banner "click throughs" - clicks on specific "hot keys" and logos are easily monitored. All these services can be tailored to customers' needs. BvDEP also produces versions of sites on DVD-ROM for customers' sales teams to use for demonstrations. |
